Can't I just do my own stretches at home?

Great question, and we got a really great answer; of course you can do your own stretches at home and we always encourage you do keep up with your own stretching routine between sessions. Professional Stretching, assisted or guided, provides a much deeper and more targeted stretch than what you can achieve on your own. Stretching with the help of a physical therapist helps optimise the effectiveness of the stretch, and ensure proper form and technique and can therefore result in better outcomes compared to generic stretching routines.

How often do you recommend me to Stretch?

It very much depends on your goals and objectives. Whilst we recommend you to do your own stretches frequently, especially before and after exercise, professional stretching can be incorporated little as once a month if you just want to give your body a little helping hand, or more often if you want to see bigger improvements to your recovery and physical readiness. It can also be flexed; maybe you need more frequent sessions leading up up to an event, and a little less in-between.

What does a Stretchology appointment include?

If you book a stand alone Stretchology session it lasts 45 minutes, or if it is added on to your already scheduled Performance Massage treatment  we typically spend 15-30 minutes on stretching depending on your preferences and and what we find necessary. Our Stretchology sessions always include a mix of Assisted (passive) and Guided (active) stretches.

 

Can I request a specific massage type?

Absolutely, many of our clients know what they want or what they need, and that’s really great. We can still advise during the consultation or during the treatment if we think a different massage type or treatment modality would be beneficial. We often combine different types within a session in consultation with our clients.

Can you help me if I've got an injury?

It depends on the injury and how far you are gone with recovery and your rehabilitation programme. At the right time in your rehab, stretching can offer great benefits to improved rehabilitation. Unlike self-stretching, Stretchology is performed with trained professionals who facilitate precise movements, enhancing flexibility and range of motion while mitigating the risk of injury. Through gradual, controlled stretches, assisted or guided stretching not only accelerates recovery but also promotes improved circulation, reduced muscle tension, and enhanced overall well-being. We are not medical professionals so always consult with your doctor if you have an injury and get a written consent form before booking your Stretchology session.

Can I book just one session?

Of course you can, and sometimes it’s good to just try it out, but to get the best sustainable results we recommend a series of sessions, and even better combined with Performance Massage. For optimum recovery and physical readiness we advice you going for a Physical Readiness Membership. Besides, bundles and programmes work out a lot cheaper per session. Win Win Win.
