PROFESSIONAL MASSAGE, SIMPLIFIED

Our Performance Massage is designed to promote and maintain normal muscle function, enhance recovery and improve your physical readiness for peak muscle performance. Designed to take your whole physical ecosystem into account for faster and more efficient recovery and physical readiness.

Massage Types & Treatment Modalities we can incorporate into your treatment;

Sports massage is designed to cater to the unique needs of athletes and individuals engaged in physical activities. Unlike traditional relaxation massages, sports massage focuses on addressing specific issues related to muscle performance, such as tension, soreness, and injury prevention and rehab, and includes a combination of techniques to target tight muscles, enhance flexibility, and improve overall mobility. This therapeutic approach aims to reduce muscle imbalances, promote faster recovery, and optimize athletic performance. Benefits include;

  • INCREASE FLEXIBILITY & ROM
  • INJURY PREVENTION & INJURY REHABILITATION
  • IMPROVED MUSCLE RECOVERY
  • REDUCE MUSCLE TENSION AND PAIN

Deep tissue massage focuses on accessing the deeper layers of muscles and connective tissues and is particularly beneficial for individuals with chronic muscle tension, athletes recovering from intense workouts as part of a training regimen, or those experiencing postural issues. Unlike a Swedish massage, deep tissue massage involves applying firm pressure and slow strokes to target specific areas of discomfort. This technique aims to break down adhesions and release muscle knots, providing relief from chronic pain conditions. Benefits include;

  • MUSCLE TENSION REDUCTION
  • INJURY REHAB & PAIN RELIEF
  • TOXINS AND SCAR TISSUE BREAKDOWN
  • IMPROVED POSTURE

Myofascial release therapy offers a range of benefits if you suffer from muscle tightness, pain, and restricted movement. By targeting the fascia, the connective tissue surrounding muscles, this therapy aims to release tension and restore mobility. One of the primary benefits is improved flexibility and range of motion, as myofascial release techniques help to break up adhesions and loosen tight fascia. Additionally, this therapy can alleviate chronic pain conditions by addressing the root cause of muscular dysfunction. By promoting better circulation and reducing inflammation, myofascial release also supports faster recovery from injuries and enhances overall athletic performance. Benefits include;

  • IMPROVED RANGE OF MOTION
  • INCREASED ATHLETIC PERFORMANCE
  • POSTURAL IMPROVEMENTS
  • ENHANCED QUALITY OF LIFE

Trigger point therapy offers numerous benefits for dealing with muscle pain and tension. By targeting specific points of muscle tightness or knots, this therapy helps to release built-up tension and improve circulation in the affected areas. It can alleviate chronic pain, improve range of motion, and enhance flexibility. Additionally, trigger point therapy can promote relaxation and reduce stress levels, leading to overall improved well-being. Whether used as a standalone treatment or in conjunction with other therapies, such as massage or physical therapy, trigger point therapy can be an effective approach for managing muscular discomfort and enhancing overall quality of life. Benefits include;

  • RELEIF FROM ACUTE OR CHRONIC MUSCLE PAIN
  • IMPROVED RANGE OF MOTION
  • ENHANCED CIRCULATION
  • STRESS REDUCTION

Relaxation massage is a gentle and soothing therapeutic massage designed to promote relaxation and overall well-being, using long, flowing strokes, kneading, and gentle circular movements. Relaxation massage helps ease tension in the muscles, improve blood circulation, and induce a state of calm. It typically involves the use of light to moderate pressure, perfect for individuals seeking a calming experience rather than intense muscle manipulation. Beyond its physical benefits, relaxation massage has a positive impact on mental health by reducing stress, anxiety, and promoting a sense of calm. Benefits include;

  • PHYSICAL/MENTAL STRESS RELIEF
  • IMPROVED SLEEP QUALITY
  • SOOTHING TENSION RELIEF
  • IMPROVED MIND-BODY CONNECTION

Event massages are specialised techniques tailored to the needs of athletes before and after physical activities. A pre-event massage is typically brisk and invigorating performed just before a sports event or intense workout to increase circulation, warm up, and enhance flexibility. A post-event massage is focused on aiding recovery with gentler strokes to help soothe tired muscles, reduce muscle soreness, and promote removal of waste products. Benefits include;

  • BETTER ATHLETIC PERFORMANCE
  • INJURY PREVENTION
  • IMPROVED ROM / PLIABILITY
  • IMPROVED RECOVERY EFFICIENCY

What are the benefits of Performance Massage?

Professional athletes and fitness enthusiasts widely acknowledge the importance of massages in enhancing recovery and physical preparedness for peak performance. Benefits include Improved Flexibility & Range of Motion, Increased Recovery Efficiency, Boosted Physical & Mental Performance, Reduced Injury Risk, and Reduced Pain and Muscle Tension.

I'm not an athlete, so how could it be relevant to me?

Great question, and we got a really great answer; Performance Massage is not just for athletes, it works like magic for anyone. Performance massage is great for anyone who’s looking to promote and maintain normal muscle function, be more flexible and pliabl (see what we did there?), wants to avoid injuries, recover faster from physical activity; and improve physical readiness for work, sports, health and fitness longevity, or whatever other adventures floats their boat.

How do I know what massage to book?

You can leave the thinking to us. We know how confusing it can be, so we have made it our thing to simplify the process for you. So instead of giving you a menu of massage options, we brought it all together under one name so that you don’t have to decide which to go for; just tell us what you need and leave the thinking to us. But of course, if you know what you’re after we are more than happy for you to tell us how you want it.

Why do you call it Performance Massage, I've never heard that before?

We’ve made it up. The reason why we made it up was to find one common name in which we could incorporate all Massage Types and Treatment Modalities, so that we could make it easier for you. So instead of having to figure out what treatment you need, all you need to do is book a Performance Massage and leave the thinking to us.

If you are curious, we chose the term “Performance Massage” because our missions is to improve your physical and mental performance.

How often do you recommend me to have Performance Massage?

It very much depends on your personal goals and objectives. It could be as little as once a month if you just want to give your body a little help on the way, or more often if you want to see bigger improvements to your recovery and physical readiness. It can also be flexed; maybe you need more frequent massages as leading up up to an event, and a little less afterwards.

How does a typical appointment look?

We make sure to arrive 5-10 minutes before appointment time to ensure we have enough time to set up. If it is your first appointment with us we will start with your Pliabl Biomechanics Assessment & Posture Analysis followed by your first treatment. If it’s a follow-on appointment we will do a quick progress check-in before we start your treatment. After the treatment you will receive after-care instructions before we pack up and leave.

Can I request a specific massage type?

Absolutely, many of our clients know what they want or what they need, and that’s really great. We can still advise during the consultation or during the treatment if we think a different massage type or treatment modality would be beneficial. We often combine different types within a session in consultation with our clients.

Can you help me if I've got an injury?

It depends on the injury. If you have a Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI) or a chronic injury like a tennis elbow, we can certainly help.  We are not here to diagnose any injuries or medical conditions, but once diagnosed we can help with your physical rehab. And if it turns out to be out of scope that we can’t help with, we’re happy to refer you. We are not a team of medical doctors so for acute injuries please follow NHS guidelines or speak to your medical provider.

Can I book just one session?

Of course you can, and sometimes it’s good to just try it out, but to get the best sustainable results we recommend a series of sessions. For optimum recovery and physical readiness we advice you going for a personalised programme, which always include a one-off appointment before your programme starts. Besides, bundles and programmes work out a lot cheaper per session. Win Win Win.

How do I book?

To get the most out of Performance Massage we always recommend opting for a massage bundle or one of our Physical Readiness Memberships. We know from personal and professional experience that whilst a single session provides some immediate relief, committing to a series optimises the therapeutic impact and effectiveness of each session and ensures long-term benefits for recovery and physical readiness. A membership or bundle also works out cheaper and helps you to stay consistent and committed.

If it’s your first time with us, whether as a member or as a one-off treatment, we always start with a free online consultation, followed by an in-person appointment for your body assessment and your first treatment.
