General

Here you can find questions and answers about Pliabl, our Treatments/Services, Pricing, Memberships, Policies, Safety, and other general questions frequently asked.

Where are you based?

By design everything we do is either mobile, online, or in pop-up format to make sure we’re exactly where you need us. We are based out of Alton, Hampshire and we cover Hampshire, Surrey, and South West London. 50 miles travel is included in our prices, if you live further away we can still see you with a small additional travel fee.

Do you have a clinic/studio?

Not currently. We have made it our mission to re-think how you access and incorporate recovery therapy into your high-achieving lifestyle, so that you can stay on top of your game today, and to be ready to chase after your ambition tomorrow. So by design everything we do is either mobile, online, or in pop-up format to make sure we’re exactly where you need us. If you would prefer having your treatment in a pop-up venue, speak to us and we will arrange a pop-up location near you.

Do you have a call-out/travel fee?

No, we don’t charge extra for call-outs or travel, except if you live outside our 50 mile radius in which case we charge a small travel fee.

Can I get an emergency appointment?

It very much depends on the type of emergency. If you had an injury or if it is a medical emergency, please refer to NHS guidelines for emergency situations. We are not doctors or medical professionals so we will never advice on medical treatments.

If you have sore or stiff muscles and uncomfortable muscle pains that are not due to acute injury or illness, we are happy to see you with short notice. Short notice appointments are £95. Please book by calling 03300439430 so that we can assess treatment suitability. Please note that we may have to refer you to a specialist if deemed necessary upon assessment/consultation, in which case only charge you 50%.

Why do you not promote one-off/drop in appointments?

You are more than welcome to book a single appointment, but we don’t promote it because we know that whilst a single appointment will provide some immediate relief, it is not going to provide the desired long-term benefits. So we always advice to purchase a package of treatments, or a Physical Readiness Membership if you are serious about your long term physical health.

How do I cancel an appointment?

Life happens, and sometimes we need to change our plans. If you need to cancel your appointment head over to your TeamUp Account Page or use the TeamUp App. Alternatively, you can call us on 03300439430.

Performance Massage

Frequently asked questions about our facilities

I'm not an athlete, how is Performance Massage relevant to me?

Great question, and we got a really great answer; Performance Massage is not just for athletes, it works like magic for anyone. Performance massage is great for anyone who’s looking to promote and maintain normal muscle function, be more flexible and pliabl (see what we did there?), wants to avoid injuries, recover faster from physical activity; and improve physical readiness for work, sports, health and fitness longevity, or whatever other adventures floats their boat.

How often do you recommend me to have Performance Massage?

It very much depends on your personal goals and objectives. It could be as little as once a month if you just want to give your body a little help on the way, or more often if you want to see bigger improvements to your recovery and physical readiness. It can also be flexed; maybe you need more frequent massages as leading up up to an event, and a little less afterwards.

Can I have just one session?

Of course you can, and sometimes it’s good to just try it out, but to get the best sustainable results we recommend a series of sessions. For optimum recovery and physical readiness we advice you going for a personalised programme, which always include a one-off appointment before your programme starts. Besides, bundles and programmes work out a lot cheaper per session. Win Win Win.

Why do you call it Performance Massage?

Because our mission is to improve your physical and mental performance through massage. And instead of giving you a menu of various confusing massage options, we brought it all together under one name so that you don’t have to decide which to go for; just tell us what you need and leave the thinking to us. But of course, if you know what you’re after we are more than happy for you to tell us how you want it.

What's included?

Our Performance Massages include any of our massage modalities; Sports Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, Relaxation Massage, Lymphatic Drainage, Myofascial release. We can also incorporate Cupping Therapy, Medical Acupuncture & Dry Needling, and Sports Taping if relevant.

Can you help me if I've got an injury?

It depends on the injury. If you have a Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI) or a chronic injury like a tennis elbow, we can certainly help.  We are not here to diagnose any injuries or medical conditions, but once diagnosed we can help with your physical rehab. And if it turns out to be out of scope that we can’t help with, we’re happy to refer you. We are not a team of medical doctors so for acute injuries please follow NHS guidelines or speak to your medical provider.

How do I book?

If it’s your first time with us we always start with a free online consultation, followed by an in-person appointment for your body assessment and your treatment. Just head over to Memberships & Pricing where you can purchase and book your treatments via TeamUp

Stretchology

Frequently asked questions about our facilities

Why can't I just do my own stretches at home?

Great question, and we got a really great answer; of course you can do your own stretches at home and we always encourage you do keep up with your own stretching routine between sessions. Professional Stretching, assisted or guided, provides a much deeper and more targeted stretch than what you can achieve on your own. Stretching with the help of a physical therapist helps optimise the effectiveness of the stretch, and ensure proper form and technique and can therefore result in better outcomes compared to generic stretching routines.

How often do you recommend me to stretch?

It very much depends on your goals and objectives. Whilst we recommend you to do your own stretches frequently, especially before and after exercise, professional stretching can be incorporated little as once a month if you just want to give your body a little helping hand, or more often if you want to see bigger improvements to your recovery and physical readiness. It can also be flexed; maybe you need more frequent sessions leading up up to an event, and a little less inbetween.

Can I have just one session?

Our Stretchology sessions are bundled with Performance Massage to ensure you get the most out of your treatment. We can incorporate stretchology within you pre-booked Performance Massage treatment, or you can add on extra time to get even more out of your treatment.

What's included?

Our stretching sessions last for 30 minutes, which takes your treatment to 60 or 90 minutes with your Performance Massage. Our Stretchology treatments include one on one Assisted Stretching and/or passive and active guided stretching.

Can I stretch with you I have an injury?

It depends on the injury, and in what stage of the injury recovery you are. We are not here to diagnose any injuries or medical conditions, but once diagnosed we can help with your physical rehab. And if it turns out to be out of our scope, we’re happy to refer you. We are not a team of medical doctors so for acute injuries please follow NHS guidelines or speak to your medical provider.

PARC Training

Questions about our PARC Online/Outdoor Classes

How is PARC Training and Pliabl affiliated?

PARC Training is an outdoor fitness brand run by Pliabl Ltd, to provide social community fitness in an outdoor environment. Currently our PARC Training classes are only delivered in Alton, Hampshire.

What does PARC stand for?

It’s not only a play on the word PARK, where we run our classes. PARC is an acronym for Pliabl Athletics and Recreation Club, and it is also and acronym for our class types – PowerPlay (strength), Atheltica (agility), Recovery (muscle balance), Core Cardio (cardio and core focused).

What's unique about PARC Training?

Our PARC Training sessions have been designed in a way to improve your overall functional fitness. The PowerPlay classes build strength and muscular stamina, The Athletica classes is focused on speed and agility and helps building mind-body connections, The Recovery classes fucuses on gently activating muscles, improving balance and overall mobility and pliability, The Core Cardio classes builds core strength and cardiovascular stamina.

Also, PARC training helps boost all our brain chemicals (Dopamine, Oxytocin, Serotonin, Endorphins). Our Dopamine levels increase during exercise help creating a cycle of motivation. Our social and fun environment contributes to a boost in Oxytocin levels making you feel more confident, connected with a shared sense of belonging. Spending time outdoors elevates our Serotonin levels which help boost our mood and energy, and our Endorphin levels increase with physical exertion which helps lower stress and boost our mood.

How do I sign up/register for classes?

Just head over to parctraining.com where you can find all information about our circuit classes, our memberships, pricing and booking. You also purchase classes, packages, and memberships directly on your TeamUp Account, where you also can manage your account.

I am not very fit, will I be able to keep up?

There is no “keeping up” needed. Our training is circuit based, which means you can work out to your own ability at each station. You might want to go slower or lighter on weights with some exercises, and faster and heavier with others. And if you need to take a break in-between that’s absolutely fine too. Whilst it’s good to challenge oneself, there is never any pressure to do more than your best.

I am not very confident, will I be ok?

We promise you will. Our small classes are fun, social and super friendly. If you are unsure, pop around and have a look, and you can always have a chat with us before or after class if you want to know more.

Will I be shown how to use the equipment?

Absolutely. We always start going through each exercise and the running order, even if everyone is familiar with the equipment or exercise. Health and safety when exercising is really important, so we will always make sure you know the equipment, exercise and that you got your form right. If you are unsure during the workout we are always on hand to help.

Are there toilets or changing facilities onsite?

There are recently refurbished public toilets nearby, ample space for a quick change if you need to. No showers or official changing facilities however.

Does the facility include sauna, steam, spa and pool?

Sadly not. We train outdoors in public spaces, so none of the fancy niceties, just pure fun and great training. Your own shower will have never felt so good when you get back home :). There’s a nice café in the park for an after-workout-snack.

Is there parking nearby?

Yes, there is paid parking near by, and free parking on surrounding roads.
